Almost April, and we get a blizzard!

Today is March 31, and as I look out my window it's snowing to beat the band. The Weather Channel calles it "Blizzard Conditions." Looking out my window, it looks like a snow globe thats been shaken up. I wound up having to go into town, in this mess. I was thankful to have been off, but then, of course, somebody needed something from the store, so off I went. My stepson's girlfriend and I braved the snowdrifts and the wind to drive to the store.... But first, we had to clean off the car. After getting the car free of snow, we SLOWLY drove into town and to the store where I work. I was elected to go into the store since it was MY husband that needed something, so when I came out, Jessy was waiting for me patiently in the car. Then, as we were driving home, I decided to take a few pictures of the "blizzard" on Main Avenue.

This one is one of our local law enforcement officers, Tyler in his police cruiser, durango... Running away from the scene of the crime I assume..LOL. Anyhow.. notice how the pictures are all dark and gloomy looking? All these photos were taken between noon and 1 p.m. today. Crazy huh! After we returned home, I decided to go play in the snow and take a few more pictures. I really wanted whoever saw the pic's to have an understanding of exactly how deep the snow was, so I took this photo of my legs in the snow. Now, I'm only five foot three and one half inches, but still... snow to my knees is pretty deep, especially when you stop to think that yesterday, where I am standing was a grassy field.... We had upwards of six feet of snow on the ground for most of the last two months, and finally, it had started to diminish. We had several days last week where it was up in the 40's and 50's and the snow has started melting off. For the first time since arriving in Minnesota, I could see grass on the ground and now we are back to snow snow everywhere! I took this pic of snow gracing the branches of this evergreen because I just thought it was pretty... but I've been looking at it all winter and I'm just ready for the snow to go away. I talk to my family and friends back in Texas regularly and Every day, I am informed how it's warm and nice there. My Mom even told me today that she was sitting outside on the front porch enjoying the breeze. Kinda cool, but she didn't even need her jacket. Sigh.. believe it or not, I miss Texas weather. I dunno why... One last picture for my pict-o-journal today.... This really cool barn across the road from our driveway... I really thought it looked neat.. although a little forlorn, in the storm. Tell me what ya'll think!

Pretty Parkland, and Cute Little Squirrels

I thought that after the "deep" last couple of posts, a picture or two might be nice. This is Jacob's Ladder in beautiful Cameron Park back home in Waco. I love Cameron Park and have spent hours there with family and friends. I love this pic, and thought it was pretty and a nice reminder of summer as I look out my window and stare at all water-logged yards and such as the snow finally starts to melt.

Speaking of looking out my window, a few weeks ago, I was looking out our bedroom window and saw these two guys playing.

The one from farther away we call Bob, and the smaller squirrel in the closer cropped pic we call Larry. Bob and Larry play in the trees outside our window all the time, but I have only ever been able to capture them this once.

Bob seems to be posing just for me in this pic. He knew I was there, and for a minute we just stared each other down, then I snapped the shot, and he took off like a shot. Funny little critters, squirrels. Cute, and mean. Hrm.. I think I know some kids like that..LOL.

Anyhow, no deep thoughts for today, just pretty park land, and cute little squirrels. Have a good one!

Support for Space aliens..ETC.

So I googled for info on some of what "Jeanne" was talking about and came across this article: http://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?read=4839.

You can visit the link above to read the article in it's entirety, but this is the part that seems to most strongly support Jeanne's theory...

Many have said that Mt. Carmel was some sort of intelligence front. For instance, the minister of a rival Davidian church in Waco told me that Koresh had worked for the CIA and the church housed a biowarfare factory. This view was also promoted by Patriot leader Linda Thompson, who in a Penthouseinterview, alleged it was a CIA facility, and that the ATF raid was orchestrated by the FBI, acting in alliance with Israel's Mossad, to shut it down.

Another variation of this theory comes from the late attorney Paul Wilcher, who died mysteriously after writing a report to Attorney General Janet Reno which described Mt. Carmel as a mind control facility. Koresh and his inner circle, Wilcher claimed, were programmed "sleeper" agents, or "Manchurian Candidates," who had been programmed to carry out a terrorist act with biological weaponry (as was later performed in Japan by the Aum Shiro cult, when it released deadly sarin gas in a Tokyo subway). However, Koresh and the other sleepers "woke up" from their programming and went rogue. This necessited shutting down the Mt. Carmel facility.

And yet, there is no evidence that biological warfare agents were ever manufactured at Waco. The only dangerous chemical known to have been manufactured at Mt. Carmel was, according to surviving Branch Davidians, methamphetamine. This had been done under George Roden, the leader of the Davidians prior to Koresh. (Later, the ATF alleged there was a speed lab at Mt. Carmel. This, along with the charge of child molestation, was a pretext for the February 28 raid--curious, since both speed and child molestation are outside that agency's jurisdiction.)

Roden left Mt. Carmel after a power struggle with Koresh in the late 1980s, and, until his recent death, was confined to a mental institution in Big Spring, Texas. On at least two occasions he escaped this facility, and once managed to travel all the way to the Israeli embassy in New York. He claimed some sort of connection with the Israeli government.

Could Mt. Carmel have been a Mossad facility? The Davidian flag, which fell into the flames on April 19, did bear the Star of David. Also, some in the conspiracy reseacher community believe there is a link between the Branch Davidians and Jewish Mob boss Abraham Davidian who was shot dead in the late 1940s. Israel did figure prominently in Koresh's life. It was while on a trip to Israel in the 1980s that he received a "vision" which began his career as spiritual leader. He went to Israel under the name Vernon Howell; he came back with the name David Koresh. The book Why Waco?reports that Koresh continued to receive visions after returning to the U.S.; the inspiration for a sermons always originated as a picture beamed into his head.

This is reminiscent of the visions experienced by late science fiction author Philip K. Dick, who claimed that Gnostic imagery was being beamed into his head by an external entity. Perhaps Dick's and Koresh's "visions" originated from God, perhaps from extraterrestrials, perhaps from their own minds, or perhaps they were delivered by microwave. Dick might have been a mind control victim. Koresh might have been one too. The technology certain exists; it has not been for nothing that, over the years, billions of black budget dollars have been poured into what the Pentagon calls "non-lethal weaponry."

Bizzare! Feedback? Still reminds me of the X Files...

Space Aliens, David Koresh, and Barak Obama

I'm not makin fun of my friend, and I'm not makin this up folks.....

My friend "Jeanne" that I work with, and I were having a conversation this morning, and Barak Obama came up. I told her the same thing I tell everyone who asks me. I don't care that he is a black man. The color of his skin says nothing of a man's ability to lead a country, or anything else for that matter. The problem that I have is that Obama is muslim.

Alot of people will contradict this statement, and if you don't happen to believe that he's a muslim, thats your business. But I wonder, why would a man who was purportedly born in this country and is NOT a muslim have such a problem producing an authentic birth certificate....
Anyhow, like I said, my problem is that Obama is a muslim, and I don't believe that we have any business having a muslim in office when we are at war with a muslim country... so there's that...

Anyway, so we were discussing Obama, and Jeanne points out that if you watch him during a speech, he never looks at the camera. He will turn his head to the left, and turn his head to the right, but he never looks forward. He also never shows any emotion at all, and speaks in a monotone voice. It's all very "robot like." These are her observations. I didn't vote for him, so I rarely pay that close of attention to him. So then she asks if I want to hear her theroy. Sure, I say, why not? It's six blinkin' thirty in the morning, and I can listen while I roll up breakfast burritos... Lay it on me. So here's the real deal, according to my co-worker......

Apparently, back when the aliens crashed at Roswell, the United States Government recovered alien technology enabling them to produce computer chips. These computer chips were manufactured for the specific purpose of mind control. Evidentially, they are inserted into the brain of the subject, and then you can control the subject to do your bidding. Stay with me kids, I'm not making this up. I was actually told this....

So, the big cover-up at Waco, with the whole Branch Davidian thing had to do with these mind chips. David Koresh, before amassing a cult, spent a large amount of time in Isreal, and with the Moussad. Without his knowledge, the Moussad inserted one of these chips into Koresh's brain. I never was clear on how the technology got from the US Government to Isreal. Anyhow, with this chip, they made Koresh believe he was God. He built the Branch Davidian Compound at Waco to mass produce these chips on American soil, with the cult acting as a front. The reason that the seige went on for 51 days was so that Koresh's people could get rid of the computers and equipment they were using to produce the chips.

Fast forward to present day....Somehow, the Moussad have managed to once again, without the subject's knowledge, implant a mind control chip. The new subject? The very "robot like" Barak Obama, and they are using him to run the United States. So, space aliens, David Koresh, and Barak Obama... all connected...

Feedback? I dunno.. To me it sounds more like a great episode of the X Files...

Modern Day Work Ethic

Most anyone who knows me will tell you that I am famous for saying I hate to work with most teenagers because they mostly want a job, but they don't want to work. Well, recently, I've begun to believe that it's not just teens. I am not the worlds most perfect employee by any means.

Early in my Wal Mart career, I used to leave my department, to stroll across the store, and hang out with my buddy Greg. We would take our time, cruising around the store, pretending to shop, and basically just ignoring the hell out of our jobs. It's a wonder I didn't get fired. However, as I've gotten older, I've grown up. I would never pull a stunt like that now. I just don't have the lack of work ethic I used to.

Recently, I worked with a 17 year old young lady, who felt the need to just have friends call in and say "She just isn't coming in to work today, get over it." Even when she did come to work, getting her do actually do anything was another struggle altogether. She is a prime example of a teen who wants a paycheck, but doesn't feel that she needs to work for that paycheck.

But, like I said, teens are not the only ones who lack any kind of work ethic, or even common sense, these days. I work with a lady I will call "Bev." Bev must be in her late fifties or early sixties, easy. From what I understand, when she first came to our little store, she was one hell of a worker. Now, apparently, all she is interested in is gossiping and smoking cigarettes. Another co-worker told me that Bev has made the statement to her several times that "You can tell how clean a person's home is by how they keep their work space." If that's the case, she must live in the city dump. Apparently, the broom and mop are foreign critters to this lady.

Today, I reported for work, and there was a plumbing crew working in our kitchen. The access point in the ceiling is right above our sink station. The dust and mess on the floor from the crew was atrocious, and I mentioned it to "Sherry," my boss. She was quick to tell me that the floor was a sore point with her. Apparently, the work crew had been in the store yesterday as well,( I was off yesterday, and missed this) and left the floor in much the same manner. Bev closed last night, and didn't bother to even sweep up the mess, much less mop. Didn't even attempt to walk t'ward the broom.

I'm sorry, but when you work in the food and service industry, cleanliness is of the utmost importance. You can't just leave the floor looking like a warzone. You cant. You HAVE to keep a clean kitchen, and that includes the floor. Not only to deter rodents and creatures, but for saftey issues as well.

How can a grown ass fifty or sixty something woman just not take care of something like that? It baffles me.

Thats just the latest thing. I don't understand how she can work a full seven or eight hour shift and not get everything done. It's not that difficult. Make pizzas, and assorted yummies, keep the dishes clean, keep the kitchen clean, keep up with the paperwork, and stock the things you're gonna need for the next day. If you empty a container, wash it and refill it. If you empty a box, take it to the box dumpster.

I can usually goof off at least two to three hours a night and STILL get everything done. This lady tells me she's so busy, she just doesn't have time. Busy doing what? To read her paperwork, she didn't make that many pizzas. To look in the vault, she didn't bring in anything for tomorrow. To look into the makeline, she didn't fill the pizza toppings, and usually leaves you with little to no cheese or sauce. What in the hell is this woman doing? Why in the hell is her behavior being tolerated? How can she sleep at night knowing that she's taking money and not doing the job she signed on for? Does she not know that's considered theft?

The only other crew member we have in our department is a guy named "Ronnie." The only thing I can say about Ronnie is he's in his early 20's and is a combination of the lazy teen, and Bev. I.E. useless as tits on a boar hog. It scares the hell out of me that I am the most responsible crew member in our little pizza shop.

Modern day work ethic...... laughing my ass off, because no one seems to have any work ethic, except for me and the boss... That, my friends, is a sad and sorry statement, yet totally true.

Not much goin on/memory lane

Nothing exciting happened today. I went and collected my check then went into DL to the Wal Mart. I bought a few picture frames. (Lets face it... I take ALOT of pictures) I also bought some lightbulbs.. excitement abounds. I paid the light bill. I'm broke. The Otter Tail Power Company is happy, though. Wanna see more pictures?Well, do ya do ya do ya! I sure hope so, cuz I'm postin' em. LOL! This is a picture of the cake my friends got me before I left. They were determined that I wasn't really going to Minnesota. I think it's cute. They got it from HEB on 19th street in Waco. What great friends I have! The cake was good, too! I wish I had eaten more of it..LOL. So, lets see, what other pictures can I show you, as I stroll down Memory lane... Oh, here's a good one. This is a group of us hanging out at Trisha's place the Saturday before I left Texas. Left to right, it's Steve, Me, Dan'l, Trish, and Teresa. Aint we a fun lookin bunch! Trisha's wearing my Whataburger shirt. It was her sad attempt to get back at me after I stole her Sesame Street shirt. I still have to send that one back to her, but it's looking like it just may have to come with me when we travel to Texas at the end of May. I wanted to get drunk this night, but it just didn't happen. Oh well. We had a blast anyway. Trisha is a fairly good cook, and I'm here to tell ya, we ate our fool heads off. These are the geniuses who bought me that yummy cake above. I cried about that cake! They were so sweet to me that day. We just spent the day hanging out, telling stories, laughing and cutting up. Having a good time, really. I told everyone that they were not allowed to cry. Period. Guess who wound up breaking the rule. ME! Around the end of the evening, I just lost it. No reason, really except that I love these folks here, and I was gonna miss 'em. Hell, I do miss 'em. Lots! They're good kids! LOL. SO this next picture is the sun coming up over Dallas, as my
plane took off on November 18th. Approx. 6:45 a.m. I thought it was purty. I suppose that's gonna be all the pictures for today, gang. I'll prolly post again tomorrow night. Don't have to much fun! Ya'll be good!

Minnesota... it's cold

On November 18, 2008, I boarded a plane in Dallas which was bound for Denver, Colorado. In Denver, I would change planes and be delivered to the far frozen north, in Fargo, North Dakota. Then I would travel from there by car, to my new home, some 70 miles to the east in Frazee, Minnesota.

Now, people move around every day, but I am a born and bred southerner, who had never been north of the Mason Dixon line, so to move so far north is proving to be an adventure for me so far.

There is a saying called "Minnesota Nice", and the folks here sure seem to be, but it took me a while to get used to their northern accents. Everyone here comments on the way I speak, saying things like "You must not be from around here," or "Oh, a southerner, ey?" I generally make light of it and say something like, "Oh, no, I don't have an accent, all ya'll got accents. I'M the NORMAL one..." followed by a laugh. They usually laugh along with me, but it gets old after a bit.

I'm no stranger to being the new kid on the block. My grandparents raised us, and we moved around alot. We never spent more than a few years in the same place, so I'm used to starting over. Just not in such a foreign place.

Upon arrival in Fargo, I immediately noticed two things: first, it was FREEZING!!!!!, and second, the scenery reminded me alot of central Alabama in the winter. There wasn't alot of snow on the ground, so I was lulled into a false sense of security. All of that would soon change.

My arrival in Frazee basically went unnoticed by most folks. The only people I had contact with were my husband, his son, his son's girlfriend, and my husband's grandson. The car that my husband brought up from Texas (he came several months ahead of me to set us up), isn't a yankee car, and really doesn't like the cold. Hence we didn't have transportation to go anywhere. This isn't the biggest of deals, since we live about a quarter of a mile from the main drag of Frazee. The downside of this is that Frazee is only about a half a mile long, and there really isn't that much here. To go to Wal Mart, or any other big place for that matter, you have to go "into town."
"Town" means Detroit Lakes, or DL, which is about ten miles down the road. Not that far, unless you're on foot... So for a while after my arrival, I didn't see much of anything, aside from our house, and the family grocery store, and local convienience store here. It was a grand treat to go into DL to get to go to Wal Mart. A vast difference for me, as I was used to being able to go where ever I wanted, whenever I wanted back home in Waco.

Around the first of the year, I landed a job at the convienience store as a pizza clerk, and working has certianly eased my cabin fever, not to mention that I get to go into town every two weeks when I get paid. Now I don't feel like such a shut in.

I do have to admit though, that walking to work, while benifical to my health, is not always the coolest thing.. Ok, well it's the COLDEST thing! Ha! There were days when the temp dropped to around twenty below, BEFORE you add in the windchill, and there I'd be, wrapped up like Nanook of the North, trudging to work to sling pizzas to... NOONE because everyone else in the world knows it's too cold to go out! I have pictures of the snow. I have hoards of pictures of the snow! I'll even share a few!
~Our front yard as of March 10th, 2009~ Yes, I said MARCH..

~Pitiful tiki torches outside our kitchen window~

Note the contrast between these two photos: The one where I'm wearing the Dell beanie was taken Easter weekend 2007, where it actually snowed in Waco.

The picture where I have the purple beanie is November in Minnesota.

Big big difference. SO, anyhow, this blog is meant to chronicle my adventure into the big frozen northland. I hope you enjoy it.
